Simon & Simon was a popular detective drama that aired on CBS between 1981 and 1989. The show follows the adventures of two brothers who run a private investigation firm in San Diego, California. Gerald McRaney played the older brother, Rick Simon, who was a former marine and a tough, no-nonsense investigator. Jameson Parker played the younger brother, A.J. Simon, who was a college-educated, bookish type with a talent for research and a smooth, witty demeanor.

The two brothers were opposites in many ways, but they had a strong bond and a deep respect for each other. They often got on each other's nerves, especially when they disagreed on tactics, but they always managed to work together to solve their cases.

Each episode of Simon & Simon featured the brothers taking on a new case, ranging from missing persons to murder investigations. They were frequently called upon to help out their colorful cast of clients, who often had unique quirks and personalities.

Eddie Barth played their father, Abe Simon, who was a retired detective and the owner of the firm. He often gave his sons advice and helped them out on cases, but he also had a tendency to butt heads with them over strategy.

The show also featured a strong supporting cast, including Tim Reid as Lieutenant Marcel 'Downtown' Brown, a savvy street cop who frequently assisted the brothers with their cases.

Simon & Simon was famous for its blend of humor, action, and heartfelt drama. The show was not afraid to tackle serious issues, such as drug addiction and domestic abuse, but it always found a way to balance these themes with lighthearted banter and witty one-liners.

The chemistry between McRaney and Parker was one of the key factors that made the show so successful. They had a natural, brotherly rapport that made their bickering and teasing feel genuine and endearing.

The show also had a memorable theme song, "Best of Friends", which was composed by Barry De Vorzon and Michael Towers. The upbeat, catchy tune perfectly captured the spirit of the show and became a hit in its own right.

Simon & Simon ran for eight seasons and over 150 episodes, making it one of the longest-running detective shows of its time. The series was beloved by fans for its dynamic characters, engaging storylines, and memorable moments.

Overall, Simon & Simon was a classic detective show with a unique blend of action, humor, and heart. Its legacy lives on today as a beloved entry in the pantheon of 80s television.
