Kyoko Mogami is a sixteen-year old girl who gave up her life to follow her childhood friend Sho Fuwa to Tokyo to support him while he becomes famous as a pop idol. On his way to stardom, Sho treated Kyoko poorly and crushed her dreams of becoming an entertainer. After discovering that he never truly cared for her, she vows to get her revenge by surpassing him in show business.

Episode 19 of Skip Beat! titled "Hoping to Catch a Star!" picks up where the last episode left off. Kyoko has landed an audition for the role of Momiji, a character in an upcoming drama series. The episode begins with Kyoko reflecting on her past and how far she has come in her career so far. Her training at LME has helped her to develop her acting skills and make her more confident.

Kyoko is excited for the audition and is determined to give it her all. However, things take a turn when she realizes that the director of the drama series is none other than the same director who worked with Sho on his first acting project. This realization unsettles Kyoko, who is afraid of being compared to Sho and is worried that she won't be good enough.

Despite her fears, Kyoko manages to put on a brave face and give a great audition. The director seems impressed and tells her that she has an excellent chance of landing the role. However, Kyoko is still hesitant, and she wants to do something to really stand out. She decides to visit Sho, who is still her biggest inspiration, to ask for his advice.

Kyoko approaches Sho's manager and gets the chance to meet with him. She is consumed with nerves and unsure how to speak to him after everything he put her through. Nonetheless, she puts on a brave face and manages to ask Sho for his advice. Sho is surprised to see her and initially dismisses her request, but then he sees how much she has grown and offers her some successful guidance.

Following Sho's advice, Kyoko puts on an excellent performance that completely wows the director. It looks like she is going to land the role, but then a former co-star of hers shows up and threatens to derail everything.

The co-star, who has been jealous of Kyoko's success, begins to bad-mouth her to the director, saying that she is an amateur who doesn't deserve the role. Initially, the director isn't swayed by the co-star's words, but the situation intensifies when the co-star shows him a video of Kyoko performing in her role as Bo in a previous audition.

The director is shocked to see the video, and it becomes clear that Kyoko's role as Bo was sabotaged by Sho, who had deliberately ruined her chances of getting the role. Kyoko is devastated when she sees the video and is hit with the reality of how much Sho has hurt her in the past.

Despite Sho's actions, Kyoko refuses to give up. She speaks to her friend Yashiro and learns that the drama's producer is friends with LME's president, Lory, who is also in attendance at the audition. She decides to approach Lory and plead her case to him.

Kyoko meets with Lory and tells him that she wants to land this role, not just for her career, but for all the people who have helped and supported her along the way. She shares with him her struggles and how she has been working hard to overcome them.

Lory is impressed with Kyoko's determination, and he decides to pull some strings to ensure that she gets the role. The episode ends with a cliffhanger, as we see that Kyoko has secured the role but has no idea what she is going to do next.

Overall, episode 19 of Skip Beat! is a thrilling and emotional episode that showcases Kyoko's growth as a character. It highlights the challenges she has faced and the obstacles she has overcome on her journey to stardom. The episode also offers some insight into Sho's character, revealing his jealousy and pettiness.
