Skyland was a Canadian-French animated television series that was aired on Nickelodeon between 2005 and 2007. The show follows the story of siblings Mahad and Lena, who are on a mission to find their missing mother, Mila. The story is set 200 years in the future, when Earth is enveloped in a catastrophic event referred to as the Great Flood. Due to human activity, the planet was pushed to the brink of destruction, and floods destroyed most of the land.

The survivors of the Great Flood formed a new society, where the rich and powerful built floating cities in the sky while the poor struggled to survive on the remnants of the planet. The elite group of rulers was known as the Guardians, who controlled the world via a device called the Gravity Drive, that gave them the ability to regulate gravity and control the weather.

Mahad and Lena belong to the farming community who struggle to survive on the planet's surface fought against the oppression of the Guardians, who controlled the sky cities. As the siblings travel through different parts of the planet and interact with various groups, they discover that their mother was deeply involved in opposing the Guardians and solving environmental problems.

In each episode, the siblings encounter new people and struggle to overcome the challenges of the harsh environment that is now Earth. In their quest to find their mother, they must battle the Guardians and their loyalists, who will stop at nothing to prevent Mila from ever returning to the surface.

The show's animation style is eye-catching, particularly the characters who are designed in a unique way. The characters' costumes and weapons reflect a mix of both new and old technology, with sci-fi influences in their outfits and weaponry. However, the look and feel of the show are not the only unique features that made the show stand out; the storyline of Skyland is very intriguing.

The show's central theme is the preservation of the environment and its consequences. Skyland highlights the dangers of exploiting nature, particularly through human activities like air, land, and water pollution. The show's narrative warns of the severe extremes that our future generations will have to face if we do not take care of our planet as we should.

Furthermore, the use of advanced technologies in Skyland adds depth to the show's narrative. The Gravity Drive, for instance, is a profound device, capable of controlling the planet's weather and gravity through waves. The show, therefore, raises questions such as, how powerful technology, when controlled by a few, could lead to the oppression of many.

The episodes of Skyland are packed with action and adventure, as the siblings travel across hostile territories, fighting against villains who want to stop them from finding their mother. The show's setting creates a unique world full of possibilities, with various characters adding flavour and depth to the show. The main cast is exceptional, with Mahad and Lena's adventures forming the show's major subplots.

In conclusion, Skyland is an engaging and entertaining show that provides an excellent escape into a world of action and adventure. The show's unique storyline, combined with its artistic style, makes it an excellent choice for children and young adults. Moreover, its environmental themes are a powerful reminder of the need to take care of our planet. Overall, Skyland is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a well-written show with an intriguing plot, interesting characters, and thought-provoking themes.
