Ep 2. The Sting of the Scorpion

Spider-Man: The Animated Series is a classic show which premiered in 1994 and ran for five seasons. In episode 2 of season 1, titled "The Sting of the Scorpion," we see Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man, continue his battle against the villains of New York City.

In this episode, we are introduced to another villain who has a personal connection with Peter Parker, J. Jonah Jameson's son, John Jameson. John is an astronaut who has returned from a space mission with an illness caused by a mysterious energy. This energy, known as "neogenic radiation," is slowly killing John, and the only man who might be able to save him is Dr. Farley Stillwell, the same scientist responsible for turning Dr. Octavius into Doctor Octopus.

Meanwhile, we see the introduction of another villain, Mac Gargan, who is hired by Jameson to investigate Spider-Man. Gargan is a private investigator who is desperate for money and is willing to do whatever it takes to get paid. When Spider-Man discovers Gargan's intentions, he sends him a message to back off. However, this only makes Gargan more determined to catch Spider-Man and get paid.

As the episode progresses, we see Spider-Man struggling to protect his secret identity while also trying to save John Jameson's life. Additionally, he must deal with Mac Gargan who, after being rejected by Jameson, is transformed into the Scorpion by Dr. Stillwell. The Scorpion is a formidable opponent and is determined to destroy Spider-Man.

Overall, "The Sting of the Scorpion" is a thrilling episode that introduces new characters and sets up the overarching storyline of the season. We see Spider-Man facing new challenges and struggling to maintain his dual identity. The introduction of the Scorpion adds a new layer of danger to Spider-Man's world, and we can't help but wonder what other villains will appear in future episodes.
