Starhunter 2300 was a sci-fi television series that aired on SPACE from 2000 to 2004. It starred Michael Paré as Dante Montana, a former bounty hunter who was forced to work for an interplanetary police force in the 23rd century. The show was set in a distant future where humanity had colonized other planets and encountered various extraterrestrial life forms.

Dante Montana was the captain of the Tulip, a spaceship that he used to track down criminals and solve crimes. He was assisted by his technologically advanced AI computer system, known as the 'Ship'. Along with Dante, the show was populated by a diverse cast of characters, including his mechanic Percy Montana (played by Tanya Allen), his former partner Lucrecia Scott (played by Claudette Roche), and a mysterious woman known only as Callista (played by Dawn Stern).

The show followed Dante and his crew as they traveled through the galaxy, facing dangerous situations and tackling complex moral dilemmas. The episodes were often self-contained, with each one featuring a different universe, planet, or society that the crew had to navigate. The series had a gritty, film noir-inspired aesthetic and often explored themes of loss, redemption, and the price of justice.

One of the central conflicts of the show was Dante's relationship with his estranged son, Travis (played by Stephen Marcus). Travis had turned to a life of crime and had become one of Dante's most wanted bounties. Despite this, Dante was often torn between his duty as a bounty hunter and his desire to save his son from himself. This father-son dynamic added an emotional depth to the show that was often lacking in other sci-fi series of its time.

Aside from the overarching storylines, the series was known for its impressive visual effects and its creative use of practical sets and models. The show's production team made extensive use of miniatures, puppets, and animatronics to create an immersive sci-fi world that felt both real and fantastical.

Starhunter 2300 was relatively obscure during its original run but gained a cult following in the years that followed. It was praised for its mature themes, complex characters, and innovative visual style. The series was canceled after two seasons due to low ratings, but it remains a beloved cult classic among sci-fi fans.
