Stephen King's Golden Years is a thrilling science fiction TV series that aired on CBS back in 1991. The storyline follows the life of aging nuclear power plant worker, Harlan Williams (played by Keith Szarabajka), who miraculously begins to regain his youth and vitality after being accidentally exposed to radiation. This sudden turn of events sets off a chain reaction of bizarre occurrences and dangerous consequences that threaten the lives of everyone around him.

Harlan's miraculous recovery attracts the attention of an unscrupulous government organization known as the Shop, which is interested in using his regenerative powers for their own nefarious purposes. The Shop sees Harlan as a valuable asset or weapon, and they are willing to stop at nothing to get their hands on him. However, Harlan is not willing to be a pawn in their game and decides to take matters into his hands by attempting to escape their clutches.

Along the way, Harlan discovers that he is not the only one to have been affected by the radiation exposure. Other people in his community have also started to display unusual and seemingly supernatural abilities. As Harlan learns to control his new powers, he also learns that he may be the last hope for his fellow empowered citizens.

One of the main characters in the show is Harlan's wife, Gina (played by Felicity Huffman). She is initially skeptical of her husband's new lease on life and is worried about what the future holds for them. However, as the danger intensifies around them, she becomes a vital part of the resistance movement against the Shop, providing not only emotional support but also practical aid in their escape.

Another essential character is the aging and ailing plant owner, William Rust (played by Ed Lauter). He is Harlan's boss and friend who initially distrusted the younger generation of employees. As Harlan's condition improves, Rust finds himself in a difficult spot as he comes to terms with the fact that his protégé has become something of a freak of nature.

Stephen King's Golden Years is a rare gem in the grand scheme of the famed author's adaptations. It offers viewers a unique and engaging take on the superhero origin story while still keeping true to the horror and suspense themes that King is so well-known for. The series is well-written, well-acted, and kept viewers coming back for more. Despite only running for one season, Stephen King's Golden Years is still remembered fondly by those who were lucky enough to experience it on TV.
