Ep 9. Tracy and his Octopus

In season 5, episode 9 of the hit reality show "Tanked," the team at Acrylic Tank Manufacturing (ATM) take on a unique and challenging project for a client named Tracy and his octopus.

Tracy, an avid scuba diver and animal lover, approached ATM with the dream of creating a one-of-a-kind aquarium for his pet octopus. He wanted the tank to not only be a beautiful display for his home, but also a functional environment for his intelligent and curious cephalopod.

Brett Raymer and Wayde King, the co-owners of ATM, were excited to take on this project and create something truly special for Tracy and his octopus. After several design options were presented, Tracy ultimately chose a cylindrical tank that would hold 450 gallons of water. The tank was made of acrylic, which is stronger and more durable than glass, and was adorned with a variety of decorations and hiding spots for the octopus.

One of the biggest concerns for the project was creating an environment that would be beneficial for the octopus' physical and mental health. Octopuses are highly intelligent and curious animals that require mental stimulation to stay healthy and happy. The ATM team worked closely with Tracy to ensure that the tank would provide enough hiding places and obstacles to keep his octopus entertained.

In addition to creating a stimulating environment, the team also had to consider the fact that octopuses are notorious escape artists. They are able to squeeze through incredibly small spaces and navigate complicated mazes, which means that the tank had to be completely secure to prevent any escape attempts. The ATM team installed a series of locks and alarms to ensure that the octopus would stay safely inside its new home.

As with all projects on Tanked, the team faced several unexpected challenges throughout the build. One of the biggest issues came when they discovered that the octopus was sensitive to high levels of light. This meant that they had to install special lighting that would provide enough atmosphere for the tank, but not harm the octopus. They also had to install an elaborate filtration system to keep the water clean and healthy for the octopus to live in.

After several weeks of hard work, the tank was finally complete and Tracy was thrilled with the results. The cylindrical tank featured a variety of unique decorations, including rocks that looked like octopuses and a custom-made LED light fixture that would change colors and provide a relaxing atmosphere for the octopus. The team had also installed a series of custom features, including a feeding tube and a special pump that would mimic the ocean currents that the octopus was used to.

Overall, the team at ATM were proud of the work they had done on Tracy's octopus tank. They had gone above and beyond to create a unique and functional environment for a truly special animal.
