In episode 5 of season 4 of Teen Wolf titled I.E.D., the story picks up where the previous episode left off. The episode starts with a particularly eerie scene where the camera pans through an underground lair until it reaches where it seems that Kate Argent has been hiding since season 2. She emerges, and the audience is reminded that apparently time has had no effect on her whatsoever, as she seems to be the same age as she was 6 years ago.

Next, we see Lydia Martin trying to get a grip on her new banshee powers as she continues to trace the origins of the deadpool list that has escalated tensions in Beacon Hills. In Frat row, Scott McCall is filling in a paperwork to enrol in summer school even though his main priority is balancing his wolf duties with his social life. He is startled by the appearance of his estranged father, who drops in to Beacon Hills unexpectedly and ends up helping with the research that will help the pack narrow down the list of assassins who are trying to kill them off.

A teammate of Liam Dunbar, Brett Talbot, is also introduced in this episode and it is immediately obvious that they have a rivalry going on. The two boys are both working on a sign that is supposed to promote their upcoming lacrosse match against their rivals. However, things go haywire when one of the Haigh couple's cars explodes. The Haigh's didn't survive the attack, and it causes chaos in the lacrosse team. The team has a hard time understanding how it happened, and even worse, why. With mounting pressure, all the wolves work together to understand why they're being targeted and who could be behind it.

Throughout the episode, an unmarked van keeps popping up everywhere, leaving the audience to wonder who could be inside it and what are their intentions. As the characters try to put the pieces together, we are led to believe that it is probably someone they know, as the assassins appear to be getting more and more information on the pack's movements.

As the episode progresses, we see the wolves struggling with their identity as they are no longer sure if their wolf form is a burden or a source of strength. Chris Argent offers to help uncover more about the elusive assassins in exchange for the pack's help in tracking down a dangerous group of hired assassins who are said to be killing supernatural creatures across the country. With a nod of agreement from the team, they gear up for violent situations as they narrow down the list of people that have been hired to kill them.

As the episode comes to a close, we are left with haunting revelations about who is behind the deadpool, as well as shocking secrets that will soon come to light about the McCall family's past. The episode ends on a foreboding note, with the wolves preparing themselves for what's to come. The ensemble cast perfectly encapsulates and captures the essence of the show, as they balance romance, drama, and action all in one episode. Teen Wolf continues to be an intriguing and compelling story that keeps audiences glued to the screen.
