Tenchi Muyo GXP

Tenchi Muyo! GXP is the fourth in the series of the Japanese animated series Tenchi Muyo!. This series was created by AIC and has been broadcasted on NTV as well as Adult Swim's Toonami. The plot of the show is different from the other installments because the other installments were spin-offs while this show occurs during the events of the original series Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki. This makes the show more interesting but also allows for new cast members while the older more famous cast members only make cursory appearances in scenes necessary to the story line and characterizations.

In the plot for this installment, the main character is Seina Yamata. He is a high school student who lives at home with his family (his parents and younger sister) in a very rural part of Okayama, Japan and has an amazing talent for bad luck that plagues everyone around him. The plot takes off when one morning a spacecraft causes a tsunami that overtakes Seina and almost drowns him. Seina survives, but is accompanied home by a pilot, Amane Kaunaq (incidentally, she was actually trying to recruit Tenchi) who shows a pamphlet of the Galaxy Police Force to his family. Seina ultimately ends up joining the galaxy police and is eventually given his own ship.

Through the series, he makes several friends such as Amane Kaunaq: the pilot who was demoted from her position as a pilot to an instructor to better help train Seina. Amane grows to genuinely like Seina and her new position and eventually becoming a weapons specialist when Seina is assigned his own patrol. He also meets Kiriko Masaki: an immigration officer that knew Seina on Earth she takes it upon herself to look after Seina and sees herself as his caretaker and guardian. She too is later demoted, in a situation similar to that Amane, because her pride over took her reason. Throughout the series Seina is introduced to several intriguing people and he wins the friendship and even the love of a few of the women whom he meets.
