The Brady Bunch season 5 episode 2, titled "Mail Order Hero," begins with Greg and Marcia trying to find ways to earn money. It's summer vacation, and they want to do something meaningful with their time off, like helping out some of the less fortunate kids in the neighborhood. To get the ball rolling, Greg and Marcia visit a local charity organization, and they soon learn about a unique opportunity. The organization is selling a package that includes a T-shirt, a letter, and a photo of a soldier who is fighting in Vietnam. The idea is to send a care package to this soldier, hoping to boost his morale and remind him that people back home care about him.

Greg and Marcia are excited about the prospect of helping out a brave soldier who is fighting for his country. They pool their money and send away for the package. When it arrives, they are pleased to discover that their soldier is a man named Private Paul Watkins. They learn about his interests and hobbies and decide to send him some gifts that they hope he will enjoy. They write him a letter, telling him about themselves and expressing their gratitude for his service. Finally, they send the package off to Vietnam, feeling proud of what they've done.

As the days go by, the Brady family receives no response from Private Watkins. Everyone is a little disappointed, but they assume that he's just busy with his duties. However, one day, they receive a letter from Private Watkins himself. He thanks Greg and Marcia for their package and for all the support they've given him. He also asks them to do him a favor. He wants them to write to his friend Eddie, who is also a soldier fighting in Vietnam. Eddie needs the same kind of support that Private Watkins has received, and Watkins thinks that Eddie would greatly benefit from a package and a letter from Greg and Marcia.

Greg and Marcia are both thrilled at the chance to help out another soldier. They ask Watkins for Eddie's address and send away for another package. This time, they're even more invested in the process, hoping to make a difference for yet another brave young man. When the package arrives, however, they find that it's a little different from the last one. It includes a T-shirt, a picture, and a letter, just like before. But this time, instead of a soldier, the package is meant for a firefighter.

The Bradey kids are confused and disappointed. They don't understand why they've been sent a package for a firefighter when they wanted to help out a soldier. However, they soon learn that there has been a mix-up. The charity organization accidentally sent them the wrong package. They apologize and promise to send a soldier package as soon as possible.

Greg and Marcia are disappointed, but they understand that mistakes happen. However, they soon discover that the firefighter who the package was meant for is actually a pretty cool guy. His name is Fireman Joe Foley, and he's one of the bravest firefighters in the city. He's also a widower with two young children. The Bradeys decide to send him their package anyway, hoping to boost his morale and express their gratitude for his hard work.

The episode ends with the Bradys feeling proud of what they've done. They may not have helped out a soldier, but they've helped out someone who is also making a difference in the world. They've also learned the value of helping others, no matter who they are. Despite the mix-up, they've made a real difference in the life of a courageous firefighter.
