In The Dead Files season 8 episode 14, "Devil's Plaything - Canton, Illinois," psychic medium Amy Allan and retired NYPD homicide detective Steve DiSchiavi travel to Canton, Illinois to investigate reports of demonic activity plaguing a family's home.
The episode begins with Amy and Steve meeting with the family who live in the house. They explain that they've experienced a range of paranormal phenomena including shadow figures, voices, and even physical attacks. The family is visibly shaken and scared by what they've experienced in their home.
As Amy begins her walk-through of the property, she immediately picks up on a strong presence of negative energy, specifically demonic energy. She channels the entity and experiences intense physical pain, feeling as though she's about to pass out. Steve tries to calm her down while asking her what she's feeling and what she's picking up from the entity.
During their investigation, Amy and Steve discover that the family's home is built on the site of an old cemetery, which explains a lot of the paranormal activity they've reported. But they also find evidence of a specific entity that's been targeting the family, feeding off of their fear and negative emotions.
Through their investigation, Amy and Steve learn that the entity is manipulating and possessing the family members, trying to break down their mental and emotional states in order to gain more power. Amy is able to help the family understand what they're dealing with and guide them in taking the necessary steps to protect themselves and cleanse their home.
As always, the episode concludes with Amy and Steve delivering their findings to the family and offering them advice on how to deal with the entity and its negative influence on their lives. While the conclusion doesn't wrap up everything perfectly, it does provide a sense of hope that the family can begin to move past this traumatic experience and live their lives with a bit more peace than they've had in recent months.
