Rob has two major problems to deal with in this episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show." The first is that he has once again been called upon to write a comedy routine for Alan Brady, the impossibly demanding star of "The Alan Brady Show." The second problem is that his beautiful blonde wife Laura has been given a bottle of hair dye by her friend Millie, and has decided to try it out.

Rob is very unhappy about both of these developments. He's stressed out about the pressure of writing a great comedy routine for Brady, and he's not at all sure he likes the idea of Laura changing her hair color. He's concerned that she might lose some of her "innocent charm" if she goes brunette, as he has always seen her as a classic "dumb blonde" type.

Meanwhile, Laura has her own worries. She's feeling old and frumpy, and thinks that dying her hair a darker color might make her look sexier and more sophisticated. She's not sure what Rob will think, but she hopes he'll be pleased with the new look.

At the office, Rob is struggling to come up with a funny routine for Brady. He's spent hours banging his head against the wall, but nothing is coming to him. Finally, in a moment of desperation, he decides to take a break and go home for lunch.

When he arrives at the apartment, he's surprised to find that Laura has indeed dyed her hair, and is now a gorgeous brunette. At first, Rob is taken aback by the change, but as he looks at her, he realizes that she's still the same woman he fell in love with. In fact, he thinks she looks even more beautiful than before.

Laura is relieved and thrilled by Rob's reaction, and the two spend a romantic afternoon together. But their idyllic moment is interrupted by a phone call from Brady. He's furious that Rob hasn't finished the routine yet, and demands that he come back to the office immediately.

Rob rushes back to work, and spends another long night writing jokes. The pressure is almost too much to bear, but finally, in the early hours of the morning, he comes up with a brilliant routine that has Brady laughing hysterically.

The next day, Laura comes to the office to surprise Rob with lunch, and sees Brady rehearsing the routine. She's impressed by how funny it is, and realizes that Rob is truly a talented writer. She's proud of him, and happy that they can share this creative side of their lives together.

As the episode wraps up, Rob and Laura are sitting on the couch at home, discussing their day. Laura is content and happy with her new hair color, and Rob is grateful to have such a supportive and loving wife. He's also grateful for his job, even though it can be stressful at times, because it allows him to pursue his true passion – writing comedy.

Overall, "My Blonde-Haired Brunette" is a lighthearted and charming episode of "The Dick Van Dyke Show" that explores the joys and challenges of both work and marriage. With its witty dialogue, heartfelt moments, and standout performances from all the actors, it's a great example of why this classic sitcom remains a beloved favorite for generations of viewers.
