Doug and Carrie are sitting on their sofa watching a news story about a man who is suing a baseball team for being hit by a foul ball. Doug jokingly asks Carrie what she would do if she got hit by a ball, and she responds that she would keep the ball and sell it on eBay.

The next day, Doug and Deacon are playing catch in the backyard when they accidentally throw the ball over the fence and into the neighbor's yard. When they go to retrieve it, they find out that the neighbor is a big fan of the Mets and has a ball signed by the entire team. They joke around about how much the ball might be worth, and Deacon suggests they swap it with the ball they lost.

At first, Doug is against the idea, but he starts to warm up to it when he realizes how much money they could make. They hatch a plan to sneak into the neighbor's yard and trade the balls while he is away. However, things go awry when the guy comes back and catches them in the act.

Doug and Deacon try to explain themselves, but the guy is angry and threatens to call the police. In a panic, they jump over the fence, but not before Doug accidentally throws the signed ball back into the guy's yard.

What follows is a series of mishaps as Doug and Deacon try to get the ball back before the guy realizes what has happened. They try to break into his house, break into his car, and even climb up on his roof to get the ball, but everything they do only makes things worse.

Meanwhile, Carrie is oblivious to what is going on and spends the day trying to come up with creative ways to sell the ball on eBay. She enlists the help of Arthur, who comes up with ridiculous schemes that only serve to complicate things further.

As the day wears on, Doug and Deacon become more and more desperate to recover the ball. They eventually come up with a plan to distract the neighbor and sneak back into his yard, but things don't go quite as planned. In the end, they are forced to face the consequences of their actions and make amends with the neighbor.

The episode is filled with humor and hijinks as Doug and Deacon try to catch a break, while Carrie and Arthur add their own blend of zaniness to the mix. Fans of the show will enjoy the latest misadventures of the Heffernan family, and newcomers will find themselves quickly caught up in the hilarity.
