Lucy and the French Movie Star is the 24th episode of the first season of The Lucy Show. In this episode, Lucy finds herself in a situation when the French movie star, Jacques Du Prez, visited her hometown. Lucy has a friend, Mary Jane who is crazy about French movie stars and also Jacques Du Prez. On hearing about the arrival of Jacques in town, Mary Jane is so excited and rushes to see him at the train station.

Lucy does not have any interest in the French movie star, and she had already agreed to take care of Mary Jane's children while Mary Jane is trying to find Jacques and see him at the train station. Lucy is left with her hands full of children, and she has to take them with her to the bank where she works. Lucy, being Lucy, ends up causing a commotion at the bank when the children she is taking care of start stamping on the check bounce machine and making a lot of noise.

After causing a scene at the bank, Lucy arrives at home to find Mary Jane still in search of Jacques. Mary Jane's children are exhausted from all the excitement, and Lucy uses that to her advantage, suggesting that the kids should rest and take a nap. Mary Jane agrees, and they all retire for an afternoon nap.

Lucy also falls asleep, and when she wakes up, she finds a Frenchman lying next to her on the bed. She panics, thinking it is a burglar, only to realize it is Jacques Du Prez, the French movie star. Mary Jane had found Jacques and brought him to Lucy's apartment for a place to stay while he is in town. Mary Jane had left a note on the window letting Lucy know that Jacques is staying with her.

Lucy is excited and honored to have a French movie star staying in her house, so she decides to treat him to an American-style dinner. She cooks roast beef for him, but there is a problem. Lucy has never cooked roast beef, and she ends up overcooking it, making it dry and hard to eat. Jacques, with his limited English, is trying to compliment Lucy, but it is clear that he is not very enthusiastic about the meal.

Lucy is not one to give up; she decides to make dessert and show off her pastry-making skills. She bakes a cream pie, but once again, it does not turn out right. The pie is runny, and it ends up splattering all over Jacques' face when he tries to take a bite. Jacques finally loses his composure and admits that he cannot eat any more dry beef and runny pies.

Lucy is heartbroken that she had not been able to impress her guest and decides to take him to a fancy French restaurant. They arrive at the restaurant, and Lucy is thrilled to see the joy on Jacques' face as he peruses the menu. Lucy suggests that Jacques order for both of them, but what she does not realize is that he is ordering an incredibly expensive meal. Lucy is shocked when she sees the bill but decides to pay it without showing a hint of her embarrassment.

After the meal, Lucy and Jacques enjoy a carriage ride around town where they end up at Lucy's friend Harry's apartment. Harry is starstruck when he sees Jacques and makes a fool of himself in front of their guest.

As the night comes to an end, Jacques thanks Lucy for the wonderful evening, and Lucy finds herself in a state of infatuation with the French movie star. The next day, Lucy discovers something that leaves her with mixed feelings towards Jacques, and she has to decide if she wants to continue to be his friend.

Overall, Lucy and the French Movie Star is an entertaining episode with a lot of funny moments. It is a classic sitcom episode featuring Lucy's antics and the quirky characters that surround her.
