Ep 17. Mindy's Birthday

Mindy's Birthday is the 17th episode of the first season of The Mindy Project. The episode revolves around the birthday of Mindy Lahiri, who is turning 31. Mindy is excited about her birthday and has made elaborate plans for a party, including hiring a party bus to transport her friends and coworkers to the venue.

However, her plans are disrupted when her ex-boyfriend Tom sends her a gift. Mindy had broken up with Tom a few months ago and is trying to move on. She is annoyed that he has sent her a present and tries to return it. When she reaches his office, she finds out that Tom has been promoted and is now her boss.

Meanwhile, the party bus arrives, and Mindy's coworkers climb aboard. They are surprised to find that the bus is full of Mindy's ex-boyfriends, who she had invited without realizing it. The group includes Casey, the rugged backpacker who Mindy had briefly dated, and Josh, the wedding videographer who she had rejected. Mindy is taken aback and doesn't know how to react.

The party bus drives around the city, and Mindy tries to avoid her exes, but they keep popping up. Casey takes her rock climbing, and Josh shows her a video he had made of their time together. Mindy is forced to confront her past relationships and figure out what she really wants.

In the meantime, at the office, Tom tries to assert his authority over Mindy. He gives her a tough assignment and expects her to work over the weekend. Mindy is frustrated and tries to get out of it, but Tom is firm. He asks her to dinner, and Mindy reluctantly agrees. However, as the evening progresses, Mindy realizes that Tom has changed and is no longer the guy she had broken up with. She starts to see him in a new light and considers giving him another chance.

Back on the party bus, Mindy's coworkers organize a surprise for her. They take her to a karaoke bar and get her on stage to sing 'Like a Prayer.' Mindy is shy at first but starts to enjoy herself. She realizes that she doesn't need a man to make her happy and that she can have fun with her friends.

The episode ends with Mindy arriving home to find a surprise waiting for her. However, we don't know what it is, and the episode leaves us hanging.
