Ep 2. The Meeting

Michael has some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that Corporate has decided to close the Scranton Branch. The good news is that Michael will have the opportunity to present to David Wallace on why Scranton should stay open. To prepare for his meeting, Michael asks Jim to role play with him, taking on the persona of David Wallace. Jim tries to prepare Michael for the tough questions he will face, but Michael becomes frustrated and decides to practice with someone else.

Dwight overhears Michael's predicament and offers to help him prepare. Dwight knows the ins and outs of the company and thinks he can help Michael win the meeting. Michael reluctantly agrees to let Dwight help him, but quickly becomes annoyed with Dwight's aggressive approach.

Meanwhile, Andy is dating a customer service representative from the Utica branch, prompting Angela and Kelly to become increasingly competitive with their personal lives. Angela tries to prove that her relationship with Dwight is more serious than Andy's relationship with the Utica rep by making Dwight sign a relationship contract. Kelly tries to outdo everyone by announcing that she has a secret boyfriend.

As the time for the meeting draws near, Michael begins to panic. He believes that the fate of Scranton rests on this one meeting and becomes increasingly delusional. He wears a woman's suit to the meeting in an attempt to stand out, but is met with confusion from the corporate executives. Michael's presentation is a disaster and David Wallace ultimately decides to close the Scranton branch.

Despite his disappointment, Michael tries to remain positive and decides to throw a going away party for the Scranton branch. Andy and Angela reconcile, while Kelly's secret boyfriend is revealed to be a fictitious character from the television show The OC.
