The Penguins of Madagascar is an animated television show that airs on Nickelodeon. The show is based on the characters that were introduced in the Madagascar films. The Penguins of Madagascar follows the exploits of an elite squad of penguins that lives at the Central Park Zoo. The penguins are on an endless quest to save the world from evil animal villains like Dr. Blowhole (voiced by Neil Patrick Harris) and humans like Officer X (voiced by Cedric Yarbrough).

The penguin squad is led by Skipper (voiced by Tom McGrath) a world weary soldier who is constantly on guard against the evil that he knows lurks all around the penguins. He is aided by his soldiers Kowalski (voiced by Jeff Bennett), Rico (voiced by John DiMaggio) and Private (voiced by James Patrick Stuart). Kowalski is the brains of the operation and is always building new and improved weapons, many of which turn against the penguins rather than helping them. Rico is the muscle of the unit and is able to throw up everything from bombs to baseball bats on command. The heart of the penguins unit is Private. Private is naive as to how the world works and sees the good in all animals, much to Skippers chagrin.

Some of the main individuals that the penguins strive to protect, regardless of if they like it or not, are the other creatures who live at the zoo. These animals include the conceited and irritating lemur king, King Julien (voiced by Danny Jacobs), his long suffering assistant Maurice (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) and foot loving side kick Mort (voiced by Andy Richter). The voice of reason when the penguins, and King Julien, get out of control is Marlene the otter (voiced by Nicole Sullivan). Marlene often questions the penguins sometimes too extreme behavior and stands in the way of their too crazy plans.

The Penguins of Madagascar is a fun and action packed show for kids who love animals and are interested in their secret lives.
