The Price of Beauty is an American reality show where the popular singer and actress Jessica Simpson travels around the world to discover the beauty standards and the different treatments women use to achieve those standards. In season one, episode five, Simpson and her two friends, Ken Paves and CaCee Cobb, go to Morocco to explore the beauty practices of the women there.

The episode begins with Simpson, Paves, and Cobb in a traditional Moroccan market, where they sample different kinds of food and try on traditional clothing. Simpson is excited to explore the country and learn about the local beauty practices. They meet a local woman who is a Henna tattoo artist and Simpson decides to get a Henna tattoo on her hand.

The trio also visit a Moroccan spa where they experience the traditional Hammam, a bathing ritual where women are cleansed with black soap, exfoliated with a kessa glove, and covered in Rhassoul clay to detoxify the skin. Simpson is quite overwhelmed by the experience but pleased with the results, while Paves and Cobb enjoy it much more.

Next, they visit a Moroccan hair salon where they observe the local women getting their hair styled and discover the secrets of the popular Argan oil. The salon owner explains that the oil is extracted from Argan trees, native to Morocco and that it is great for hydrating hair. Simpson learns that the oil is high in vitamin E, omega-3, and omega-9 fatty acids, which makes it an effective anti-aging treatment for dry, brittle hair. She decides to try it out and gets an Argan oil treatment that leaves her hair shiny and silky.

The group then travels to a small village and meets a group of Berber women. The Berbers are a tribe indigenous to North Africa and have their own beauty practices and secrets. The women teach Simpson, Paves, and Cobb how to make a traditional Berber lipstick by crushing red rocks and mixing them with water. They explain that this is an ancient beauty secret and the lipstick has great health benefits as well. It is high in essential minerals and has natural sun protection.

In the next segment, Simpson and Paves visit a Moroccan cosmetic store where they find an array of beauty products including black soap, kohl eyeliner, and different types of fragrances. Simpson is particularly interested in trying out various perfumes and learns that the Moroccan people are very passionate about fragrances. She also discovers that people in Morocco use different fragrances to suit different occasions and moods.

The trio then visits a carpet store where they learn the ancient art of carpet weaving and dyeing from the local women. Simpson is impressed with the intricate patterns and the process of making the carpets. She finds it fascinating that women in Morocco use their sense of color and design to express themselves through their art.

The episode ends with Simpson, Paves, and Cobb reflecting on their journey and the different beauty practices they have discovered in Morocco. They all agree that the Moroccan people are very passionate about beauty and that it plays a vital role in their culture. Simpson is grateful for the experience and looks forward to incorporating some of the beauty practices she learned into her own routine.

Overall, the fifth episode of The Price of Beauty is an exciting and informative journey through the beauty practices of Morocco. It is an eye-opening experience for the audience, as they learn about the Moroccan culture, history, and traditions. The episode highlights how beauty is universal and how it can bring people from different cultures and backgrounds together.
