Ep 2. Rat Tale

In The Suite Life on Deck season 3 episode 2, titled "Rat Tale," Zack, Cody, and London are all on a mission to catch a rat that has been running around the S.S. Tipton. The episode opens with London sleeping in her luxurious cabin when she is awakened by a rat running over her face. She screams and jumps out of bed, waking up Zack and Cody in the process. The twins immediately spring into action, determined to catch the pesky rodent before it causes any more trouble.

When the trio meets up, they realize that they have different ideas on how to catch the rat. Zack thinks they should set up traps, Cody suggests using cheese as bait, and London wants to hire an exterminator. They decide to try all three methods and see which one works the best. Zack sets up a trap using a box and a stick, Cody places a piece of cheese in the middle of the trap, and London makes a phone call to a local exterminator.

As they wait for the rat to take the bait, the gang begins to talk about their past experiences with rats. London reveals that she once had a pet rat named Mr. Jangles who she loved dearly. Zack and Cody share stories about rats they had encountered on the mainland, including one that they had found in their apartment building. The conversation is interrupted when London receives a call from the exterminator, who informs her that he cannot come to the ship because of a scheduling conflict.

Meanwhile, Zack's trap has been successful in catching the rat. However, as he tries to transport the rodent to the ship's infirmary, he accidentally releases it. The rat runs away, and Zack is left feeling embarrassed and defeated. Cody tries to comfort his brother by reminding him that they still have the cheese trap, which he believes will be successful.

As they check the cheese trap, they realize that it has already been sprung. Cody assumes that they have caught the rat until they find that the cheese is missing and no rat is in sight. London, who has been researching rats on her computer, reveals that rats are incredibly intelligent and may have learned how to avoid traps. She suggests that they change their tactics and try to find out where the rat is hiding.

After a bit of investigating, the gang discovers that the rat has been hiding in one of the ship's air vents. They come up with a plan to lure the rat out of the vent using a piece of cheese attached to a string. The plan works, and they are finally able to catch the rat. The group celebrates their victory, and Cody suggests that they release the rat back into the wild instead of killing it.

In the episode's final scene, the gang releases the rat outside the ship and watches as it scurries away. They reflect on what they have learned about rats throughout the episode, and London admits that she is grateful for the experience because it has taught her to appreciate these creatures even more. The group ends the episode with a renewed appreciation for the world around them and a newfound respect for the intelligence of rats.
