Ep 10. Kentucky

In this episode of Three Sheets, host Zane Lamprey takes a trip to Kentucky to explore the state's famous bourbon industry. Zane starts his journey in Louisville, where he visits the Brown-Forman distillery to learn about the process of making bourbon from master distiller Chris Morris. He samples some of the company's signature brands, including Woodford Reserve and Old Forester, and even gets a taste of the raw spirit straight from the barrel.

Next, Zane heads to Bardstown, the "bourbon capital of the world," to visit the Willett Distillery. He meets with Drew Kulsveen, the company's master distiller, to get a behind-the-scenes look at the production of Willett's small-batch bourbons. Drew walks Zane through the distilling process, from the milling of the grains to the aging of the whiskey in charred oak barrels. Zane even gets to taste some of the distillery's experimental batches, which are not yet available to the public.

Along the way, Zane takes in the local culture and cuisine of Kentucky. He tries his hand at making the state's signature dish, Kentucky Hot Brown, at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, and explores the history of bluegrass music at the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame in Renfro Valley. He also visits the Maker's Mark distillery in Loretto, where he learns about the company's unique tradition of hand-dipping each bottle in wax.

As the episode comes to a close, Zane reflects on his time in Kentucky and the rich history and culture of bourbon in the state. He raises a glass with some of the locals and shares his appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into each bottle of bourbon.
