Ep 6. American Aftermarket

In Top Gear season 8 episode 6, titled "American Aftermarket," the three presenters - Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May - head to the United States to explore the world of aftermarket modifications.

Their journey begins in Miami, where they test out a trio of custom-built American muscle cars. Clarkson drives a Hennessey Viper Venom 1000, Hammond takes the wheel of a Saleen S7 Twin Turbo, and May pilots a Superformance Cobra. They take the cars to the homestead of Charles Morgan, the CEO of Morgan Motor Company, where they discuss the ongoing debate about whether or not customizing cars is a good thing.

From there, the team travels to the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, one of the largest automotive specialty products trade events in the world. They check out some of the wildest and most extravagant aftermarket creations, including a car with tank treads, a Hummer with a swimming pool in the back, and a vehicle that transforms into a helicopter.

Next, they head to California to meet with Hollywood car customizer Jay Leno and his team, who show them some of the most legendary cars they've built, including a tank-powered Bentley, a jet-powered motorcycle, and the EcoJet, a concept car designed in collaboration with General Motors.

The episode wraps up with a series of challenges testing the effectiveness of various aftermarket modifications. First up is a drag race between a standard Corvette and a heavily modified one, followed by a race up a steep hill between a standard Jeep and one with a range of modifications including monster truck wheels. Finally, the trio takes on a "slalom challenge" in which they compete to see who can weave through a series of cones the fastest in a highly customized Ford Mustang.

Throughout the episode, the presenters offer their usual brand of irreverent commentary and colorful banter, as they explore the world of American aftermarket modifications and all the wild and wacky creations it has to offer.
