Totally Clueless was an offbeat and engaging reality game show that premiered on MTV in 2012. The series is noteworthy for adding a twist to the traditional game show format, infusing it with elements of hidden camera pranks as well as hilarious candid moments that serve to create an entertaining amalgamation of surprise and humor. This unique format gives Totally Clueless its character, setting it apart from both familiar game shows and standard hidden camera fare, making it a standout entry in MTV's line-up.

Hosted by a trio of talented improv comics, namely, Jeff Dye, Jarl Van Hoother, and Damon Zwicker, Totally Clueless serves up an entirely unsuspecting group of people as the stars of each episode. These individuals are initially entirely unaware that they are being filmed, let alone that they're the centerpiece of a reality game show. Cleverly disguised cameras capture every moment of surprise, confusion, and laughter that ensues.

Absolutely oblivious regarding the true nature of the show, the 'contestants' are led through a series of perplexing situations choreographed by the witty hosts and their accomplices. These situations range from wacky to outright nonsensical, sometimes involving props or other unsuspecting participants, all the while leaving the clueless individuals puzzled and the audience amused.

However, the episodes do not merely revolve around witnessing the participants' surprise and confusion in the various scenarios they are led through. There is much more to it. Each participant who eventually figures out that they're on camera and part of a game show progresses to the next level: a fast-paced question and answer segment. Here, the still-surprised contestants are posed a series of questions. The aim here is not just simply to provide the correct answers but to realize they've been pranked, thus winning a cash prize. The most astute individuals with a quick ability to grasp their baffling circumstances and answer most accurately stand a chance to leave the show with a substantial cash reward.

The fact that the Totally Clueless producers kept everything so secretive and candid is what renders it an entirely unique concept. It's a show that draws laughter from the element of surprise rather than traditional jokes, and there’s a charm in knowing the reactions are utterly genuine, the confusion is purely real, and the awkwardness is totally unscripted.

The hosts demonstrate impressive improv skills as they keep the energy high and the pranks surprising. The charisma and wit of Jeff Dye, Jarl Van Hoother, and Damon Zwicker help drive the bouts of hilarity, light-hearted fun, and good-natured tomfoolery. With their quick thinking and sharp comic timing, the hosts manage both to keep the contestants utterly oblivious and the audience thoroughly entertained.

Throughout its duration, Totally Clueless proved to be a refreshing take on the game show genre. With its innovative format, this MTV show offered viewers something different, blending elements of regular game shows with a touch of absurdity and heaps of surprise.

Whether it's the delight at watching the unsuspecting participants struggle to make sense of upside-down situations or cheering for the contestants as they answer quick-fire question rounds, Totally Clueless made for an enjoyable watch. The fun and relaxed atmosphere of the show are eye-catching, making it a guilty pleasure for reality TV lovers.

Although the show is not currently airing new episodes, its back catalog is always worth a watch for those seeking a humorous and sometimes absurd spectacle. Despite Totally Clueless being a product of its era, the uphill battles of its unknowing participants continue to evoke laughs, thus standing as a testament to the timeless appeal of humor and whimsy. Indeed, Totally Clueless is a quirky, entertaining offering from MTV's varied slate that remains memorable for its originality and comic charm.
