In the third episode of Touch's first season, titled "Safety in Numbers," Martin (played by Kiefer Sutherland) continues his search for the next number in the sequence that his mute son Jake (David Mazouz) has been the key to deciphering. This time, the number leads him to a group of people who have an interesting connection.

The number leads Martin to New York's Central Park, where he witnesses a group of people performing a chaotic and complex dance routine. This group is a flash mob that was organized online, and Martin can't help but feel drawn to them, especially when the next number shows up on Jake's tablet.

Martin learns that the leader of the flash mob, Terrence (played by Mykelti Williamson), is a former firefighter who lost his entire team on 9/11. Since then, he has been convinced that if he can get enough people together in one place, they can defy the odds and prevent a disaster from happening. But his obsession with safety in numbers has taken a dangerous turn.

Terrence believes that a major earthquake is imminent and has convinced his followers to build a bunker in an abandoned subway tunnel. He has even convinced a wealthy businessman named David Bloom (played by Titus Welliver) to fund the operation. But when Martin and Jake visit the bunker, they realize that Terrence's predictions might not be entirely accurate.

As Martin tries to reason with Terrence and his followers, he meets a woman named Abby (played by Catherine Dent) who is also a part of the flash mob. Abby is a nurse and a single mother who is struggling to make ends meet. But she also has a special connection to the numbers that Jake has been giving Martin.

Throughout the episode, Martin learns that the group's dance routines are actually a form of communication. Each member has been assigned a number, and the sequence of their movements corresponds to a message. Martin decodes one of these messages and discovers that Terrence's bunker might not be the safest place for his followers.

As the episode comes to a close, Martin and Jake use the flash mob's dance routine to warn Terrence and his followers of the impending danger. They manage to evacuate the subway tunnel just in time, and Martin realizes that there might be a bigger purpose behind the numbers that Jake has been giving him.

"Safe in Numbers" is a thrilling and heartwarming episode that explores themes of connection, community, and the power of numbers. It showcases the unique storytelling style of Touch and offers a glimpse into the complex and fascinating world that Martin and Jake inhabit.
