Brendan Fraser and 'True Blood' Star Anna Paquin Eying Roles in 'William Tell' Movie

Brendan Fraser and 'True Blood' Star Anna Paquin Eying Roles in 'William Tell' Movie He has his own overture, and now he's going to have his own movie: "William Tell," the story of the famous archer, is being shopped around by Arclight at Cannes.

The project is in early development, but the leading actors are already being considered. As of now, Brendan Fraser is in talks to star as Tell, while "True Blood" star Anna Paquin is up for the role of his wife.

The movie aims to tell the full story of WIlliam Tell, who was famously forced to shoot an apple off of his son's head. As the legend goes, Tell refused to bow to the king's statue and was forced to take the shot as punishment. Tell supposedly held two arrows: one for the apple, and one for the king if he missed and hit his son.

Tell's actions helped spur on a revolution that lead to the formation of Switzerland. How much of that history will be covered by the movie is unclear, but we do know this: the movie will be shot in 3D. In fact, the current title of the film is "William Tell: 3D."

If that's any indication, this is likely to be billed as more of an action movie, and the uprising will probably be part of the film. As such, if the upcoming action-y, explosion-y "Three Musketeers" does well, "William Tell" should be set up nicely.
