Twin Peaks was a television show that aired on ABC in 1990 and 1991. Created by David Lynch and Mark Frost, the show followed the investigation into the murder of Laura Palmer, a popular high school student in the small, fictional town of Twin Peaks, Washington. The show starred Kyle MacLachlan as FBI agent Dale Cooper, who is sent to Twin Peaks to investigate the murder. Michael Ontkean played Sheriff Harry S. Truman, who assisted Cooper in his investigation. Other notable cast members included Lara Flynn Boyle as Donna Hayward, Laura's best friend, and Mädchen Amick as Shelly Johnson, a waitress at the Double R Diner.

Twin Peaks was known for its unique style, blending elements of crime drama, soap opera, and surrealism. The show's distinctive aesthetic included haunting music by composer Angelo Badalamenti, dream sequences, and quirky, offbeat humor.

Throughout the series, Cooper and Truman interviewed a large cast of characters, each with their own secrets and hidden agendas. These included Laura's family, friends, and lovers, as well as various townspeople and residents of nearby logging communities. As the investigation progressed, more and more strange and inexplicable events occurred in Twin Peaks, with Cooper himself encountering otherworldly beings and experiencing visions.

Despite its popularity and critical acclaim, Twin Peaks only aired for two seasons before being cancelled by ABC. The show's abrupt ending left many storylines and questions unresolved, leading to fervent speculation and fan theories about what might have happened in the show's unseen third season.

In addition to its impact on television, Twin Peaks also had a significant cultural influence. Its unique and innovative style sparked a trend towards serialized dramas with intricate plots and complex characters. The show's use of dreamlike symbolism and surreal imagery also had an impact on the visual arts, literature, and music.

In 2017, Twin Peaks was revived for a third season by Showtime, with many of the original cast members returning to their roles. The new season continued the story of the town of Twin Peaks, with Cooper's investigation leading him deeper into the mysteries of the town's history and mythology.

Regardless of its cancellation and revival, Twin Peaks remains a key touchstone in the history of television, recognized for its groundbreaking storytelling and influential style.

Twin Peaks is a series that is currently running and has 2 seasons (30 episodes). The series first aired on April 8, 1990.
