Season 1, episode 1, titled Thrill Killer, begins with a bang - literally. Wardens Marc, Todd, and Charles are dispatched to investigate shots fired in Point Reyes, California. As they arrive on the scene, they find a group of hikers who witnessed a man with a shotgun shooting at a herd of deer. The man escapes into the wilderness, leaving the wardens to search for him.

The wardens become determined to bring the thrill killer to justice, and their search leads them to a nearby trailer park. They find a suspicious vehicle that matches the description given by the hikers, and upon inspection, they find evidence of illegal hunting. The wardens are able to identify the suspect, but he has since fled the park.

After a tense search, the suspect is eventually located and confronted by the wardens. He denies his involvement in the shooting, but the evidence against him is overwhelming. The wardens take the man into custody and confiscate his weapons and other evidence.

Throughout the episode, viewers get a glimpse into the daily operations of the wardens and the challenges they face in protecting California's wildlife.
