The Winter X Games is an annual extreme sports event hosted and filmed by ESPN. The 16th iteration of the event took place in Aspen, Colorado in 2012, and featured some of the biggest names in snowboarding, skiing, snowmobiling, and more. The event was spread out over four days and included a variety of competitions in different disciplines. Some of the most notable events included the Men's and Women's Snowboard SuperPipe, the Men's and Women's Ski Slopestyle, and the Men's Snowmobile Freestyle.

One of the highlights of the event was the Men's Snowboard SuperPipe competition, which featured some of the most talented snowboarders in the world showing off their skills on a massive halfpipe. The competition was broken up into two rounds, with the top eight competitors from the first round advancing to the final. A plethora of talent was showcased in the women's Snowboard SuperPipe finals as Kelly Clark, Elena Hight, Gretchen Bleiler and a few others all chased gold.
