Wire in the Blood is a British crime drama television series produced by Coastal Productions for ITV. It is based on the books by Val McDermid and stars Robson Green as Dr. Tony Hill, a clinical psychologist who aids the police in profiling and solving serial killer cases.

The series follows Dr. Hill, a brilliant but socially awkward psychologist, as he works alongside Detective Inspector Carol Jordan (Hermione Norris) to solve complex and gruesome murders. As they work together, Hill and Jordan develop a deep and complicated relationship, both professionally and personally.

One of the most interesting aspects of the show is how it delves into the psychology of the characters involved in the cases, including the criminals. Hill's expertise in forensic psychology proves invaluable to the police, as he is able to identify patterns and motives in the most twisted and violent crimes.

Each episode features a different serial killer and a new case to solve. While some episodes are standalone, others have overarching plots that last multiple episodes or even entire seasons. Throughout the series, viewers are given a glimpse into the killers' minds and their twisted motivations, making for a chilling viewing experience.

Aside from the cases themselves, the show also explores the personal lives of Hill and Jordan, as well as other recurring characters such as Alex Fielding (Simone Lahbib), who joins the team as a specialist in forensic pathology. Hill's struggles with various mental health issues, such as depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder, are also a recurring theme throughout the series.

The show is known for its dark and gritty tone, with many scenes featuring graphic violence and disturbing imagery. However, it is also praised for its attention to detail when it comes to the psychological aspect of criminal profiling, as well as its character development and exploration of mental health issues.

Overall, Wire in the Blood is a compelling and intense crime drama that is not for the faint of heart. With excellent writing and a talented cast, it manages to keep viewers on the edge of their seats with each twisted case and shocking revelation.

Wire In The Blood is a series that is currently running and has 6 seasons (27 episodes). The series first aired on November 14, 2002.
