Young Dracula is a British television series that ran from 2006 to 2014. It was produced by the BBC and follows the story of a young vampire named Vladimir "Vlad" Dracula, who moves with his family from Transylvania to England. The show stars Keith-Lee Castle as Count Dracula, Vlad's father, and Gerran Howell as Vlad Dracula, the teenage vampire protagonist. Other main characters include Vlad's mother, the Countess (Clare Thomas), his younger sister Ingrid (Lucy Borja-Edwards) and his best friend Robin (Craig Roberts), who is a half-vampire.

The show's premise is a modern twist on the classic vampire mythos, as it follows Vlad and his family's attempt to fit in with human society. The Dracula family pose as humans and move to a small town in Wales, where they rent a castle and enroll Vlad in the local school. The series explores Vlad's struggles to keep his true identity a secret while navigating the challenges of teenage life, including bullies, crushes, and school cliques.

As modern vampires, the Dracula family have certain abilities that set them apart from humans. Vlad has superhuman strength and agility, and he can also transform into a bat. His mother, the Countess, can levitate objects with her mind, while his sister Ingrid has the ability to transform into a wolf.

The series also introduces a number of other supernatural characters, including other vampires and werewolves. Vlad's main antagonist is the power-hungry vampire, Ramanga (Colin McFarlane), who aims to take over the human world and rule as its vampire king. Other recurring characters include the nerdy Renfield (Simon Ludders), who becomes Vlad's loyal servant, and the handsome vampire, Malik (Richard Southgate), who becomes Vlad's rival for the affections of his human love interest, Erin (Sydney Rae White).

The show's themes include family, friendship, and loyalty, and it explores Vlad's struggles to come to terms with his dual identity as a vampire and a teenager. The show also has a dark sense of humor, with several fun nods to classic vampire lore, including garlic, wooden stakes and vampire hunters.

Young Dracula is a well-written and well-acted show, with plenty of twists and turns to keep audiences engaged. The performances from the cast are all excellent, with Castle giving a standout performance as the brooding and enigmatic Count Dracula. Howell is also excellent as Vlad, capturing the character's vulnerability and inner conflict.

Overall, Young Dracula is an entertaining and exciting series that cleverly updates the vampire mythos for modern audiences. With a great cast, excellent writing, and plenty of laughs and scares, it's a show that's sure to appeal to viewers of all ages.

Young Dracula is a series that is currently running and has 5 seasons (65 episodes). The series first aired on September 21, 2006.
