8 1/2

"A picture that goes beyond what men think about - because no man ever thought about it in quite this way!"

8 1/2 is a 1963 Frederico Fellini film. Like all of Fellini’s films the movie is part comedy, part drama and part satire. Marcello Mastroianni, the leading man of Italian movies, stars in the leading role. The move won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The title is a reference to Fellini’s career as a director. He refers to the number of films he had directed at the time this movie was being made. Mastroianni stars as Guido Anselmi a famous Italian director. Anselmi is suffering from director’s block. He is also troubled by martial difficulties and a loss of interest in the current film he is working on. Fellini uses a series of flashbacks and fantasies to tell the story. This is a classic Fellini film.
