Mrs. Leslie is the landlady for a rooming house. She has numerous flashbacks about her life of working in a café as an entertainer as well as her rendezvous with a man who was an industrialist. While she is thinking about her life, the tenants in the building lead lives that resemble a soap opera in relationships of both romance and family.
