Unbeknownst to the President there are also several terrorists on the plane who are disguised as journalists. And these terrorists have a mole on the plane with them, one of the members of the US Secret Service whose job it is to project the President and his family.

Once the plane is in the air, the rogue Secret Service agent kills several of his fellow agents and gives the Soviet terrorists access to the weapons cache on the plane. As the terrorists have control of the plane, two Secret Service agents sneak President Marshall to the escape pod in the cargo area and believe that he uses it to escape. However the President does not get in the pod, he stays behind.

Believing that the President has escaped the terrorists now use the First Lady and daughter as hostages. The terrorists demand the release General Ivan Radek (the leader of a terrorist organization in Kazakhstan). Every hour that Radek stays in custody the terrorists promise to kill one passenger aboard the plane.

With his own life, those of his wife, daughter, and many others on board at stake can medal of honor recipient, retired military pilot, Vietnam war veteran and President of the United States James Marshall use the skill and knowledge he has acquired over his lifetime to save the plane and prevent the release of General Radek? Or will the terrorists win out, bringing with their victory a dark day upon the history of America?
