Assassination

"A presidential bodyguard is assigned to protect an objecting first lady, as repeated attempts are made on her life."

Made in 1987, this action thriller stars Charles Bronson who is cast as Jay Killian, an aging Secret Service agent who is assigned to protect the first lady of the United States after a new president is elected. Killian has just come back from six months of sick leave. He's disheartened that he was not assigned to protect the newly elected president. He had been on the former president's security detail. The first lady is played by Jill Ireland. Because of her ill, condescending, and feminist demeanor, she's quite difficult to be around. She won't follow Killian's security recommendations until somebody tries to kill her. Repeated assassination attempts may have originated from the White House. She comes to trust Killian's protective measures and instincts. She embarks on an arduous and dangerous journey with him across the country. The assassins are always close behind in hot pursuit. There's plenty of action on the trip. This was Bronson's final film with his real life wife.
