Batman: Mask of the Phantasm

The animated film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, released in 1993, is based on the animated series. It is an action film with thrills and spills as well as a bit of intrigue. The film begins at a conference of crime bosses that is being held in a Gotham City skyscraper. Trouble strikes when a gangster Chuckie Sol is killed by a man who looks a lot like Batman but shortly after the real Batman bursts on the scene. Batman is blamed for Sol's death and Councilman Arthur Reeves tells all the news stations in Gotham that Batman is a murderer, much to the protest of Commissioner Gordon. Around the same time an old love interest of Batman's alter ego Bruce Wayne returns to Gotham City. More and more murders occur of various criminal mob bosses and it is up to Batman himself to not only clear his name but also find the murderer and put that person to justice. Many batman villains make an appearance, most notably the Joker, who plays a very important role in the story. Batman must catch a murderer and try to juggle his relationship with a long lost love from a distant past.
