The film entitled Best of the Best involves the use of martial arts by teams The film focuses on two teams fighting against each other during a taekewondo competition. These teams include the American Karateka team as well as the Korean Karateka Team. It also covers other aspects like vengeance and conflict resolution. Alexander’s son Walter is selected to represent the American karateka team in a martial arts competition against their Korean counterparts. Walters is selected despite the fact that he has an injured shoulder. Tommy is also selected to be part of the team alongside Walter. Tommy however has a grudge on one of the Korean team members and plans to taking revenge on him. He blames the Korean guy for his brother’s death during a previous competition.

Other members of the American team include Brickley, Keller and Sonny all of whom have different capabilities. The team has Frank as coach who helps them prepare for their encounter with a renowned and powerful team. They are aware of the fact that the Korean team is better than theirs and stands better chances of winning. On their way to the competition the American team mates have series of misunderstandings and arguments before finally coming to terms with each other.

The competition starts with Keller and Grasso of the American team being defeated. Tommy comes face to face with Dae Han, the man he holds responsible for his brother’s death. Tommy fights hard and defeats him leaving him severely injured.

At the end of the competition during the presentation of medals Dae Han approaches Tommy, congratulates him for a good fight and asks for forgiveness from Tommy for causing his brother’s death. He offers his medal to Tommy to crown it all.

The characters in the film include Phillip Rhee as Tommy, James Earl as Frank, Eric Roberts as Alexander, Chris Penn as Brickley. The film was written by Paul Levine and directed by Robert Radler. It was produced by Philip Rhee and Peter Strauss.
