Sandler is a man without direction who has hit the pause button on life. He has left college, and is living in a loft with his best friend who has an up and coming attorney. When his friend announces his engagement Sandlers' character is far less than happy. He desires to continue living in true frat boy style a little longer.

The days of all nights gaming, girls, and cold pizza quickly come to an end when a child ends up ay his doorstep. Finding out that the child is his best friends' child, Sandlers' character decides to take the boy in and take care of him until his friend returns from his business trip.

Caring for a child turns out to be far more than what he bargained for. He eventually turns to his own parents for help, only to find that the support he desired was not what he was to receive. Sandler's character then goes through a series of mishaps that eventually lead him to a serious relationship, and a bit of growing up.

It what is one of the more heartfelt scenes of the movie, the charactersall end up in court fighting for the boy. This is where Sandler's friend learns that he is the father of the child. Sandler's character also pours out his heart when he is called to the stand openly confessing his love for not only the boy, but also for his dad.
