Captain Newman, M.D.

"It speaks to you in the language of love, laughter and tears!..."

This motion picture is a combination of comedy and tragedy, about a Captain in World War II who is a psychiatrist who practices empathy with his patients. He has two orderlies who are very unconventional in the treatment of all the patients, which adds to the many comedy parts of the movie. There are two patients, one an enlisted man and one is a colonel, who are suffering from intense Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, when the psychiatric community was at the early stages of diagnosing the syndrome. The many actors lend credibility to the story and it is beautifully told.
