Clean and Sober

"Thirty remarkable days in the life of an ordinary man."

Clean and Sober is about a man named Daryl Poynter. Daryl works at a very successful real estate company and is surrounded by beautiful women and nice cars, but he constantly has trouble keeping himself together due to his addiction to alcohol and drugs. As his addictions continue to take hold, Daryl starts to lose all of his money, so he embezzles money from his company's escrow account, then blows it all on drugs and failed investments.

Ultimately, the bad choices Daryl makes start to mount. At the tipping point, Daryl wakes up next to a woman who has suffered a drug overdose and has died. Daryl does not want to be held responsible for her death and wants to get away from questions about the missing money. So, he decides to enter a drug treatment program. He learns that the identity of the participants are anonymous, so he figures this will give him time to get himself together before anyone can locate him.

When Daryl enters the program, he meets a drug counselor named Craig. Craig is tough, but Daryl is very reluctant to admit that he has a problem. After extensive counseling from Craig, Daryl starts to take the process seriously and face his demons.

At his first meeting, Daryl meets his sponsor, a former addict named Richard Dirks. Richard wants Daryl to tell his employers that he has stolen money. When Daryl agrees to come forward, he is fired.

Now without a job, Daryl tries to find solace in the arms of a woman named Charlie. Charlie is also in the recovery program, but she can not leave the clutches of drugs and abusive relationships. She is simply not strong enough to maintain a relationship with Daryl, and he is left heartbroken.

As tragedy continues to follow Daryl through his recovery process, he continues to push forward and remain sober, demonstrating the power of the human spirit to survive and thrive.
