Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen

"She's making a scene over everything."

Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen is the coming of age story of Lola Steppe. Lola is fifteen when she moves from New York City to Dellwood, New Jersey. Lola desperately wants to become a star on Broadway but the move seems to take the only chance that she has to accomplish this goal away from her. She struggles to find her place in the new school she has to attend and along the way makes a friend. Lola’s friend is an unpopular girl that has very strict parents named Ella Gerard. Lola also manages to make an enemy with the most popular girl in school who is also one of the richest.

Lola’s new school is hosting a rendition of the musical Pygmalion. The play is called “Eliza Rocks” and has several changes to the music. Lola decides that this is her only chance to get her dream. She becomes obsessed with getting the lead role which Carla, Lola’s nemesis, also has her eye on. Lola gets the role which makes her a bigger target for Carla’s hate. Carla continuously tries to humiliate Lola and finally succeeds. Feeling like she has not a friend in the world, Lola refuses to play the part. Ella finds out that Lola has been dishonest and shuns her for it. Ella eventually forgives Lola.

The opening night of the play arrives and Lola still refuses to play Eliza. Carla is seen happily getting ready to play the role. Ella goes to Lola’s house and tries to get her to go. She eventually convinces her to go. Lola gets to the school with no time to spare. She takes the dress from Carla and the play starts. Lola shines the entire way through the play and the play is a great success. Carla is finally defeated at the after party when her lies about Lola and Ella are exposed.
