Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

"A timeless story of strength, secrets and two warriors who would never surrender."

Long ago in the beginning of the 19th Century, Li Mu Bai is about to retire. Even though he is ready to live the rest of his life in meditation, he can't help but think of Jade Fox, the warrior that killed his master. Up until that point, he'd practiced in the temple with Yu Shu Lien, his lover, who was also very skilled in the ancient martial art styles. Li Mu Bai had a sword called the Green Destiny, and he gives it to Yu Shu Lien, asking her to take it to Sir Te, who is in Peking.

When she gets to the city, Yu runs in to Jen, a spirited, energetic daughter of a local politician. After they meet, she spends the night in the city. That night, though, somebody stole the Green Destiny. Yu Shu Lien is after the masked robber to try and get back Li Mu Bai's powerful sword.

When Li gets to Bejing, he finds out that the thief is actually Jen. Not only that, but the seemingly sweet girl is also partners with his arch enemy, the evil Jade Fox. After their initial battle, Li offers Jen training in a different type of martial arts, one that focuses on selflessness and the more positive points of the craft. She doesn't want to do it, but can't help but realize the owner of the Green Destiny's expertise.
