Watch Crush

Nick Elliot (Cary Elwes) is a 28 year old journalist, whose life is finally on course. He’s got a beautiful photographer girlfriend and is renting a guest house from a wealthy couple (The Forrester’s) while he focuses on his writing. The Forrester’s 14 year old daughter Darien (played by Alicia Silverstone) at first seems to Nick to be a typical teenager who is maybe developing a typical teenage crush on the handsome, older guy renting a place from her parents.

At first, the flirtatious Darien flatters him, and Nick feels like her intentions are cute but ultimately harmless. Then, Nick quickly realizes that there is nothing typical about Darien. Her fascination soon becomes overly evident, and he discovers that he cannot ignore Darien’s attempts to connect with him. So, he rebuffs her physical advances and gently explains that the feelings are not mutual. It is only then that the real Darien emerges and the harmless crush turns into a dangerous obsession. Even her only friend reveals to Nick that she is afraid of Darien and what she is capable of.

Darien becomes aggressive and violent in her bid to have Nick as her own. She launches her attack and begins tormenting Nick by vandalizing his car, and embarrassing him publicly at an event. His girlfriend Amy (Jennifer Rubin) becomes an obstacle that Darien feels must be removed. Her vicious attack on Amy spurns Nick to take action that may cost him his life.

As the plot thickens, and the stakes become higher and higher we discover what lengths both of these characters are willing to go to, and who will pay the ultimate price for a crush gone wrong.

The film, directed by Alan Shapiro, is a psychological thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat and at numerous points throughout the movie your feelings towards the two main characters will shift from one side of the spectrum to the other.

Crush is a 1993 drama. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.1.
