Cube is a Canadian horror thriller film released in 1997. The film follows the story of seven strangers who wake up to find themselves trapped in a maze of interconnecting cubes, with no recollection of how they got there or where they are. The cube-like structure is made up of numerous identical metal chambers connected to each other through various doors. However, not all the rooms are safe, as some contain deadly traps and can easily kill the people inside.

The movie comprises of Geometric symbolism, where the cube represents the universe, with every person standing in the structure representing a small part of the universe. Each chamber in the maze is a representation of the different part of life, with every trap involving the concept of failure, which ultimately leads to the inevitable end. The Cube concept is a perfect example of a science fiction movie that combines psychological horror and quality acting to deliver an unforgettable cinematic experience.

The film's main characters, who come from various backgrounds, must work together to survive and find a way out of the cube. The first person they meet on their quest is Kazan, played by Andrew Miller, a man with mental disabilities who becomes a valuable asset in solving the mystery of the cube. As they progress, the group notices that there is a definite pattern of numbers and colors in each room that they enter. However, this does not seem to provide any help in understanding how the cube operates or how to escape it.

As the movie progresses, the mystery and suspense build, and the audience is left wondering who created the cube and for what purpose. The group starts to turn on each other, and dissension creeps in as they struggle with their limited strategy for survival. With each passing moment, the claustrophobic atmosphere of the cube begins to take its toll.

Outside the cube, the audience is introduced to the Wren Corporation, who may have created the cube for an unknown purpose involving research and development. As the plot thickens, it becomes clear that one of the group members may be connected to the Wren Corporation in some form, and everything that has happened may not have been by chance. The audience gets to see a side plot showing some of the Wren Corporation's senior employees argue about the cube, with one member stating that it could lead to higher profitability, while the other discourages its use as too dangerous.

The cast, which includes Nicole de Boer, Maurice Dean Wint, David Hewlett among others, delivers smooth performances that will keep the audience glued to their screens. The stunning set design, combined with seamless camera work, skillfully presents the maze of interconnecting cubes, giving viewers the feeling of being trapped inside with the group of desperate people.

The movie is undoubtedly not for the faint of heart, with its gruesome death scenes and disturbing story, but it does an excellent job of presenting the fear that comes with being trapped and helpless, with no way out. At its core, Cube is a terrifying mystery, and as the audience is taken along for the ride, they are left questioning their own reality, much like the main characters trapped inside the cube.

In conclusion, Cube is a horror movie that blends various sub-genres to create an unforgettable experience. The movie uses symbolism, theory of geometry, and suspense to keep the audience on the edge of their seats, as each room in the cube presents a new danger or a new piece of the puzzle. The script is expertly crafted, with impressive dialogues between the characters and overall remarkable acting. This critically acclaimed film captures the sensation of hopelessness and despair that arises when people are trapped, and the unknown starts to outweigh the known. It's a timeless piece that can be enjoyed by both horror fans and those just looking for an edge-of-the-seat thriller.

Cube is a 1998 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 30 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.1 and a MetaScore of 61.
