Watch Dan in Real Life

He writes a parent's advice column for the local newspaper, a widower and a father of three. His children keeps him on his toes challenging his parenting skills at times. This holiday he and the children are on their way to spend time with the rest of the family which turns out to be more of an adventure than they bargain for. Since his wife died, which was his one true love, he put love on the back burner and decided to focus on making sure his children are taken care of. After getting settled, he decides to go out to the marina for awhile. While there, he meets an incredible lady which has him leaving there on cloud nine. When he gets back to the house, he tries to tell his family about this woman whom he just met until his brother abruptly tells everyone that he has met someone that he wants them to meet.

At first they try to pretend that they don't know one another but find it awkward. Dan tries his best to act nonchalant throughout the visit. As they are outside doing their aerobics activity one morning as the lovely lady leads them, he finds it hard not to remember the time they shared. She starts having feelings towards Dan and they try hiding the way they really feel which at times can bring forth barrels of laughs. When they finally do get "alone" the family shows up while they are kissing and then they have a brawl at the bowling alley.

As his children see him happy with the new found love he found, they seem happy. He then tells the daughter of his that fell in love that he knows that she's in love and to follow her heart as he had. He also tells his children that they'll know when they find that special someone and to hold on to them the best way they can.
