Dangerous Beauty is a biography romance film that was released in 1998. The film involves a beautiful courtesan who rises through the social circles of Venice in order to gain fame and power. This woman’s life is complicated by the fact that she is in love with a poor man that she cannot marry, and she ends up being drawn toward some of the most powerful men in Italy. However, things start to change for the powerful beauty as she goes from a trusted advisor to one who is believed to be a witch. This results in her facing inquisition by the church, and eventually danger to her life.

Dangerous Beauty was first released as a book written by Margaret Rosenthal, and it was adapted into a movie by Jeannine Dominy. The film was directed by Marshall Herskovitz. The beautiful woman named Veronica Franco is played by Catherine McCormack, and the love interest is played by Rufus Sewell.
