Descent

The movie called Descent is an American thriller released in 2007 by the director Talia Lugcay and starred by Rosario Dawson and Chad Faust. This film is about this woman named Maya who is portrayed by Rosario Dawson. She is an up-and-coming artist and a college student in her senior year during the winter semester. She meets with a frat boy named Jared, portrayed by Chad Faust. They both decide to eat dinner at a local restaurant. After this date, he invites her to his apartment. There she is brutally date raped by a sociopathic individual which is acted by Chad Faust. As he commits this act, he enjoys uttering racist slurs into her ear throughout the whole ordeal.

In light of this highly traumatic experience she tries to withdraw socially and even from her immediate surroundings. This inevitably results in thoughts of suicide and creates a huge struggle for her in the realm of depression and substance abuse. After graduating she finds a job in a clothing store. At night she morphs into a completely different person. Goes through the night scene dancing, doing drugs and the like. Due to her struggles she finds herself seeking help from a DJ she had named Adrian. He is portrayed by Marcus Patrick.

After seeing Jared taking an exam proctored by her. She and the infamous DJ concoct a plan to lure the alleged rapist back to Maya's place. After successfully luring him, she is able to bind him and has her friend Marcus rape him several times. Despite achieving the immediate goal of revenge, she sheds a tear. This indicating that despite trying to satiate her thirst for vengeance, she still had not fully recovered from the experience. And it would take more than a reversal of fortune to heal her emotional wounds.
