Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead

"No rules. No curfews. No baths. No nagging. No pulse."

Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead is a comedy film that starred Christina Applegate. Applegate’s character, Sue Ellen Crandell, is a typical 17-year-old. She likes to shop and hang out with her friends and butts head with her mom, who is a single parent to Sue Ellen and her four siblings. Her dream was to go to Europe with her friends after graduation, but she is devastated when she doesn’t have enough money to go. Their mother is going to Australia for an extended vacation, and things get even worse for Sue Ellen when she finds that her mother has hired a babysitter to watch the family while she is away.

Things get even worse for the Crandell kids when they actually meet the babysitter, who is a bitter and evil old woman. After spending a few days under her tyranny, the kids go to confront her but find that she has died in her sleep. Instead of reporting the situation to their mom, they dump the babysitter’s carcass at the funeral home with a note. The kids suddenly have their summer of freedom, but they have a problem: they have no money. Sue Ellen takes the lead and gets a job at a hot dog stand.

Things go poorly at work for Sue Ellen when she realizes how much it costs to raise a family and seeks out a new job. One positive from her experience in fast food is that she meets a cute boy that she likes. Sue Ellen and her siblings fake a resume in fashion for Sue Ellen and send it for a help wanted ad. She gets the job and really wows the company's president with her design ideas and gets promoted. Two of her co-workers are suspicious and investigate.

Things come to a head when Sue Ellen has to put on a fashion show to save the company and everything that can go wrong seems to. The family band together to save the day.
