Dust to Glory

Dust to Glory is a documentary film. It covers the famous Baja 1000, which is a race that is done by vehicles off road over a thousand miles. It stars Mario Andretti, Jimmy Vasser, and Robby Gordon. The Baja 1000 road race is held every year in Baja, which is a district of Mexico. The cars driven by the racers in the Baja 1000 are not typical vehicles. They are souped up versions of street cars and every vehicle is unique. Every year, hundreds of racers participate in the Baja 100 and many fans line the roads to cheer on their favorite drivers.

The Baja 1000 is one of the most intense races in the world and the production company had to use four helicopters just to film the entire race. Winning the Baja 100 is considered to be one of the most prestigious prizes in sports which is why famous racing families like the Andrettis and Gordons are willing to participate.

The Baja 1000 is not just limited to cars. The filmmakers show all the different types of vehicles that participate in the race. There are quads and dirt bikes. The number of vehicles that participate in the race total over three hundred. While the action is exciting, the film doesn’t shy away from showing some of the difficulties that come in participating with the sport. They show several crashes that occur over the course of the race.

The filmmakers also conduct extensive interviews with the racers to get inside their heads and see how they feel about the race. The race takes about twenty-four hours for most of the competitors to complete and it can be mentally and physically grueling. The racers all talk about how hard they work and why they believe it is important to never give up.
