Freud the Secret Passion

Freud: The Secret Passion is a 1962 bio-drama about Sigmund Freud. The original script was written by the 20th century French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre. John Huston directed the movie, and Montgomery Clift stars as Freud. The movie follows the early ears of Freud’s career from 1885 to 1890. Freud was using hypnosis as a therapeutic technique to treat patients suffering from hysteria. The early part of his career provide the invaluable insights that laid the foundation for his psychoanalytical theories. The story focuses on one patient in particular, a young woman named Cecily Koertner. She is sexually repressed, hysterical, and fixated on her father.
