Frightmare is a classic British horror movie released in 1974. Directed and co-written by Pete Walker, the movie stars Rupert Davies, Sheila Keith, Deborah Fairfax, and Paul Greenwood. The film tells the story of a middle-aged couple, Dorothy and Edmund Yates, who have been imprisoned for 15 years for committing gruesome murders. However, once they are released from prison, they quickly resume their bloodthirsty ways, and the police soon find themselves hot on their trail.

The movie begins with a chilling scene of the Yates murdering a young couple in their farmhouse. The couple's screams and the sound of the axe hitting their bodies set the tone for the rest of the film. The story then picks up 15 years later, with the couple being released from prison after serving their sentence. They are picked up by their daughter Jackie (Deborah Fairfax), who they have not seen since their imprisonment. Jackie is now a successful actress, living with her boyfriend, and has no idea about her parents' murderous past.

As soon as the Yates are released, they go about setting up their old killing grounds in a remote farmhouse. They begin to lure unsuspecting victims to their property, killing them in a variety of disturbing ways. As the bodies pile up, the police become involved and start to close in on the couple. Meanwhile, Jackie's boyfriend Graham (Paul Greenwood) starts to investigate her family history, eventually uncovering the truth about Dorothy and Edmund's past.

Throughout the movie, there are some genuinely chilling moments that are sure to make viewers jump. One of the most memorable scenes involves Jackie visiting her parents' former home and discovering a room full of mutilated animal corpses. The scene is both shocking and disturbing and sets the tone for the rest of the film. Another standout moment is when Graham discovers the truth about Edmund and Dorothy's past and is stalked through a dark, candlelit mansion by the deranged couple.

The performances in Frightmare are excellent, particularly from Sheila Keith, who delivers a truly terrifying portrayal of the twisted and unhinged Dorothy Yates. Rupert Davies is also convincing as her husband, who is less insane but just as dangerous. Deborah Fairfax is likewise excellent as their daughter, who is torn between her love for her parents and the horror of their crimes.

Overall, Frightmare is a classic British horror movie that does not disappoint. The plot is gripping and unsettling, with plenty of twists and turns to keep viewers hooked. The performances are fantastic, and the film effectively builds a sense of dread and terror throughout. For fans of classic horror, Frightmare is a must-see.
