Fullmetal Alchemist: The Conqueror of Shamballa

This movie adaptation of the acclaimed anime series takes place soon after the 50-episode season ends. It begins with Alphonse Elric, younger brother of Edward Elric, with his body now restored. Alphonse has joined the military as one of their professional alchemists. It's also obvious that he is donning Edward's old attire, likely in a sort of tribute to the missing alchemist.

After the season ended, Edward Elric was sucked into another world, an alternate universe to his own. In order to get to this other side, Edward sacrificed himself in order to get his little brother's body back. Through this doorway only accessed by the most skilled of alchemists, one can regain physical things through their own universe. This is only achieved, however, by giving something up with with equal value to that which is being gained.

Alphonse sets out on a quest to figure out how to get his brother back, now that such an exchange has been made. He ends up going on quite the adventure and uncovering a lost city that becomes the way to access this alternate universe. Al gains the help of an enemy from the past named Wrath, one of the seven deadly sins that Dante created by use of alchemy. The homunculus Wrath teams up with the young alchemist and fights alongside him in order to defeat the now mutated Gluttony, another created human who after the anime series took refuge in the secret city, now a behemoth monster of his former self. They end up defeating him, and the breach to the other side begins.

Meanwhile, Edward Elric is living out his life on the other side. In this universe, alchemy is a dead art. This alternate universe is actually quite similar to our own, only it takes place during the bombings of Britain during the second world war with Germany.

During this obvious conflict, Ed ends up getting mixed up with the wrong crowd, who end up breaching a hole to the other side in one woman's quest for world domination.
